Municipal Chechen Dance Ensemble “ARZU”
(City of Grozny, Chechen Republic, Russian Federation)
This Ensemble is one of young creative collectives of the Chechen Republic. For the short period of the creative activity it has managed to win recognition at fans of a choreographic art not only in the homeland, but also outside of the Republic.
The Ensemble takes the most active part in all cultural events of the Chechen Republic. Each performance of the Ensemble has tremendous success. Original choreographic productions, young enthusiasm, a unique manner of performing art have allowed the Ensemble to find the special creative image.
The Ensemble took part in many republican competitions and festivals and always received honorable prizes:
- The first prize at the Republican Festival “My Chechen Republic – Beauty of Caucasus”,
- The first prize at the Republican Competition of Chechen Traditional Dance,
- The first prize at the Republican Festival “The Chechen Capital – My Favorite City”.
In 2010 the Ensemble performed with the big success at the international festivals of folklore dance in Turkey: in the city of Izmir and the city of Jalova.
Despite the creative merits and a youth, the Ensemble with enthusiasm improves mastery and aspires to achievement still the bigger successes.
The Ensemble name in a translation into Russian designates a word “Eagle”. Numbers of participants are 40 persons, pupils of the senior classes, at the age from 12 till 15 years. Among them: 34 dancers (16 girls and 18 boys), 4 musicians, 2 adults accompanying.
In the repertoire: the Chechen celebratory dance “Native Land”, Chechen man’s dance competition “Spark”, dance with drums “Melodies of Caucasus”, dance of the Chechen girls, and others.
