COMPAÑÍA FOLCLÓRICA DE VALDIVIA

The Valdivia Folkloric Company is a folkloric ballet founded in 2010 in the city of Valdivia, Los Ríos Region, southern Chile. The objective of the company is to preserve and promote Chilean traditional culture, expressed through music and dances from the different geographical regions of the country, highlighting this heritage and bringing it closer to new generations. Our presentations include dances and music from the north region, which presents various expressions characteristic of the carnivals of the Chilean pampas and highlands. Additionally, we represent the central region of our country by highlighting the development of a Creole identity, with Chile’s national dance, the cueca, standing out as a living expression of the nation’s folklore. And finally, we also share a work that brings the culture and traditions of the remote island of Rapa Nui to the stage, tracing its origins, rituals, and spiritual strength through a journey from ancient times to the present. 

Currently, the Valdivia Folkloric Company has 48 members, including musicians and dancers, from various municipalities in the Los Ríos Region. The company has been able to represent our country and to be part of different festivals around the world. Internationally speaking, in Argentina (2016), México (2018), Colombia (2019), Bélgica and Italia (2022), Perú and República Dominicana in 2023.
