Harmoni Dance and Folk Dance Ensemble

As Harmoni Dance and Folk Dance Ensemble, we produce stage performances that bring together the cultural heritage of Anatolia with a contemporary stage language. We approach traditional folk dances not merely as folkloric presentations, but as theatrical productions shaped by dramatic narration, stage design, and dramaturgical integrity.

Our ensemble consists of approximately 105 dancers who rehearse regularly five days a week, forming a large and dynamic stage cast. Our productions go beyond the conventional folk dance show format; they are designed as theatrical stage projects incorporating storytelling, dramaturgical flow, seamless stage transitions, and musical coherence, aiming to offer the audience a holistic artistic experience.

Harmoni Dance and Folk Dance Ensemble adopts a project-based artistic vision, shaping its stage productions each year around an original concept. In this context, our production titled “Every Figure Tells a Story, Every Dance Is a Tale,” staged last year at the Bostancı Performance Center in Istanbul, received great acclaim. With its theatrical structure that brought together diverse cultural narratives of Anatolia within a cohesive stage dramaturgy, it reached a wide audience and was highly appreciated.

Our 2026 stage production, titled “One City, A Thousand Stories,” is currently in preparation. It is conceived as a new theatrical interpretation where cultural diversity is explored through the memory of cities and human stories, expressed through dance and stage narration. The project presents folk dances not merely as regional performances, but as a dramatic stage journey interconnected through emotion, rhythm, and narrative flow.

Over the past two years, our productions have been successfully staged at the Bostancı Performance Center in Istanbul, each attracting approximately 2,500 spectators. Our performances have received strong feedback in terms of audience engagement, stage energy, and narrative coherence. These productions have been regarded as exemplary works demonstrating how folk dances can be reinterpreted within a contemporary stage aesthetic.

Our ensemble has also demonstrated its artistic excellence through first-place achievements in both national and international competitions. Beyond stage productions, our work aims not only to preserve cultural heritage but also to transmit it to new generations through an aesthetic and contemporary stage language.

The artistic approach of Harmoni Dance and Folk Dance Ensemble seeks to preserve traditional cultural heritage while reinterpreting it within a contemporary stage aesthetic, establishing a strong connection with the audience. In our productions, dance is not merely the execution of figures; it is treated as a medium for conveying emotion, storytelling, and collective memory on stage. Accordingly, our projects are shaped by a holistic artistic production philosophy centered on stage dramaturgy, musical composition, collective choreography, and audience interaction.
