HERCZKU ÁGNES AND THE BAND
When it comes to the world of music, Herczku Ágnes and Nikola Parov are unavoidable personalities of the genre. They are currently the lead of Herczku Ágnes and the Band.
Their latest album, Kamara (Chamber), was released in late 2019. You can find the most beautiful music from the Carpathian Basin and the Balkans in the treasure-Chamber of the Herczku Ágnes-Nikola Parov duet, from which Hungarian, Slovak, Croatian and Bulgarian melodies were drawn. A more than usual colorful world of music, a touching Bulgarian and Hungarian ballad, a playful bilingual cricket wedding – just a taste of the chamber of music from the album released by the Fonó Budai Music House.
CSÍK JÁNOS AND THE MEZZO BAND
Csík János and the Mezzo band promise a special concert experience with an amazing atmosphere. The musicians interpret their music with a fresh dynamic performance, together with Hungarian folk music, and entertaining jazz-like melodies, some of the musicians are closer to folk music and some to jazz music. The songs – as we can expect from Csík János – are a precise combination of different styles, fondly evoking old and new music, and rethinking them. It is exactly why the band’s music is colorful, novel, and captivating, unusual and yet well-known.

“ONE HUNDRED SECRETS STIR”
100TH ANNIVERSARY OF MUSICAL, LITERARY EVENING IN MEMORY OF 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF ADY ENDRE’S DEATH
Ady Endre brought a new concept of personality and national self-worth, and thanks to those concepts brought a completely new, modern, and bold poetic language to the Hungarian spirit in the beginning of the 20th century. He did all of that in a way that was deeply rooted in the history and culture of homeland. He experienced the contemporary crisis, the collapse of the traditional European worldview and values not only as a loss of identity for himself, but for the community and the nation. He set himself no less a goal to save and redefine the remaining values, to combine “new times with new songs”.
The program aims to help the audience delve deeper into the poetry of Ady Endre with an added flavor of folk and classical music.
During the performance, Hungarian folk music, classical music, Hungarian jazz music, and poetry all intertwine. The following performers contribute to help realize the performance: Aux Éva – actor and singer, Bognár András and Vizeli Máté – folk musicians, and the Budapest Chamber Music Workshop.
Musicians:
Balogh Kálmán – cimbalom (dulcimer)
Bognár András – bass

GULIBA COMPANY
Two folk dancers, folk dance teachers, friends, asked themselves a very important question, and after answering it, they came up with an idea and founded the GULIBA COMPANY. The question was: “What do we want for our children?” And the answer was the following: “Learning and experiencing our own tradition of dance, singing, and customs, in a way that are supported by three pillars: playing, fairytales, and humor. This are the keys to the child’s soul.” They consider it important that children are not only to be present as spectators at the performances, but also be able to participate in the experience as active actors.
The title of their performance at the Interetno Festival is: “Pinch it, hold it, follow it!” – The story of a knight named George and a shepherd looking for his goat.
In the fabulous dance performance of the Guliba Company, the legend of St. George is combined with the story of a shepherd looking for his goat. The folk rhymes, songs, and dances accompany the tale, and then the fight between the knight and the dragon makes the story really exciting. Children can also be part of the tale and even end up dancing with the Guliba Company at the end.
Members of the company: Gyémánt Ádám and Máté Móric
Musician: Bergics András – flute, horn, mouth harp
FIFTH SEASON
The music of Fifth Season combines impressions of awakening love on Champs-Elysée, the improvisations of the smoky bars of St. Luis, the atmosphere of evening walks along the Loire and the Danube and the ancient power of Eastern Europe’s multi-ethnic folk music.
The band’s urban setting and their respect for tradition is playfully combined in their music.
The core of the band’s songs is provided by authentic folk music, which provides a solid basis for their improvisations.
The Hungarian-French lead singer elevates this musical experience with the unique world of chansons.
Among the lyrics we can find folk songs and Hungarian and French poems.
The formation founded in 2018 brings together five international musical carriers, decades of experience and years of friendly and familial ties. They have proved their love for good music in a variety of formations (Lajkó Félix, Buda Folk Band, Dresch String Quartett) and they regularly perform in Hungary, Europe and overseas. Their honest, original and improvised acoustic urban music played on folk instruments targets audiences who are looking for quality in folk music and creativity in its adaptation.
